The Principal of Bowen Elementary School serves as a highly effective equity-centered data
-informed instructional leader responsible for advancing student achievement cultivating an inclusive and culturally responsive school culture and strengthening systems that support excellent teaching and learning for all students.
The principal leads a high-performing school community and is charged with sustaining strong outcomes while addressing persistent opportunity gaps through data-driven equity-focused leadership. The role includes oversight of instruction operations staff development and family engagement ensuring alignment with district priorities and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Standards IIV. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Massachusetts DESE licensure as Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK6)
Masters degree from an accredited institution (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum of five (5) years of successful elementary teaching experience
Demonstrated success in instructional leadership and improving student outcomes
Experience with educator supervision and evaluation systems
Demonstrated commitment to equity culturally responsive leadership and inclusive practices
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a school administrator or principal
Experience leading in a diverse multilingual school community
Proven success implementing MTSS Tier 1 instructional improvement and intervention systems
Experience with strategic staffing scheduling and resource alignment
Strong facilitation and adult learning leadership skills

Develop a problem of practice approach to continuous improvement centering questions such as:
Where are disparities in student outcomes most persistent
How can instructional coherence be strengthened across classrooms
Monitor and improve teaching and learning through frequent classroom observations feedback and coaching
Management and Operations (DESE Standard II: Management and Operations)
Develop and manage systems for staffing scheduling and resource allocation aligned to student needs
Ensure operational systems (budget safety compliance and student services) are efficient data-informed and equity-driven
Oversee implementation of MTSS and student support structures
Maintain a safe inclusive and orderly learning environment
Family and Community Engagement (DESE Standard III: Family and Community Engagement)
Build authentic culturally responsive partnerships with families and community stakeholders
Ensure accessible communication systems for multilingual families
