To lead and control inprocess quality operations for MIG welding and Rear Axle assemblies ensuring defectfree production adherence to quality standards and supporting continuous improvement across welding & assembly lines.
Key Responsibilities
1. InProcess Quality Control
Ensure quality assurance during MIG welding processes for Rear Axle assemblies.
Monitor weld quality dimensional accuracy and process adherence as per drawings and control plans.
Conduct inprocess inspections and ensure compliance with customer specifications & SOPs.
2. Defect Analysis & Problem Solving
Identify and analyze welding defects such as porosity spatter undercut burnthrough penetration issues distortion fixture marks etc.
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Lead crossfunctional discussions with Production Welding BIW Maintenance and PPC to resolve quality issues.
3. Process Control & Improvement
Monitor weld parameters fixture conditions jigs and tool health.
Improve process capability (Cp/Cpk) and reduce inprocess rejections.
Drive Kaizen PokaYoke and mistakeproofing initiatives on the shopfloor.
4. Rear Axle Quality Assurance
Ensure dimensional and weld quality of Rear Axle subassemblies and critical joints.
Support layout inspection torque verification and special characteristic controls.
5. Documentation & Systems
Maintain quality records inprocess inspection reports rejection logs weld traceability etc.
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements.
Support PPAP documentation sample submissions ECN/PCN updates.
6. Audit & Customer Interaction
Lead internal quality audits for welding and assembly processes.
Support customer audits customer complaints resolution and provide corrective action reports.
7. Team Handling
Guide and train quality inspectors welders and operators on welding standards and inspection techniques.
Monitor team performance and ensure discipline in quality processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Production or Automobile Engineering
7–12 years of experience in InProcess Quality in Auto Components / Rear Axle / Welding Assembly
