QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in one or more of the following areas - environmental sustainability health and safety kinesiology or other related education training and experience
- 2-5 years experience in the capacity of health safety and environmental
- Working knowledge in managing legal and other requirements (i.e. Environmental Protection Act Occupational Health and Safety Act Industrial Establishment Regulation Fire Code etc)
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes
- Moderate to advanced experience in using AI and variety of applications (MS Software Excel PowerPoint Teams Outlook Sphera Ease CAQ Intelex Canva etc)
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate and teach one-on-one and in group settings to audiences ranging from production to senior management
- Able to exercise judgement problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strategic thinking strong interpersonal organizational and analytical skills
- Results-oriented and able to work well under pressure
- Ability to lead self lead others and work with little to no supervision to execute
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with manufacturing process
- Experience in leading and monitoring modified work program
- Joint Health and Safety Committee certification
- Familiar with ISO 14001 ISO 45001 ISO 500001 or other management systems
- Auditing experience
- Automotive manufacturing systems experience
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compensation: $70000 annually
- Conduct and support health safety environmental sustainability and energy audits and develop corrective action plans in consultation with other departments (operational internal management systems etc)
- Initiate sustainability projects for landfill diversion waste management carbon neutrality and energy reduction and energy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices and objectives on equipment standards design and maintenance
- Report data collect analyze and maintain 100% of energy and water data in various dashboards Power Radar and HSELinx (software) monthly.
- Implement carbon neutrality activities in line with the Neutrality Playbook (roadmap)
- Establish and maintain sustainability KPIs/targets for carbon emission reduction and improvement.
- Update and display sustainability data monthly making it visible to all employees on the shop floor to promote a sustainability mindset.
- Initiate sustainability projects to support KPI targets and upload them into HSELinx.
- Promote sustainability activities across multiple platforms such as communication boards employee meetings etc.
- Submit sustainability projects with ROI for the Magna Annual Sustainability Award Program.
- Conduct at least one best practice sharing session among all Magna divisions.
- Complete the Support NQC Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) as required by OEM (customers).
- Contribute to each of Magnas 7 priority UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Monitor and track scope 1 2 and 3 carbon emissions generated by operations business travel employee commuting transportation and the distribution of sold products.
- Facilitate monthly sustainability meetings prepare agendas and document meeting minutes.
- Provide updates to management on new technologies that support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Research evaluate and report on new energy technologies offering recommendations to the team. Monitor and support energy initiatives and the ongoing development of the Energy and Greenhouse Gas Management Program.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on energy optimization opportunities and track energy use. Coordinate the measurement and verification of energy management project deliverables.
- Implement an Employee Awareness Program to build an energy conservation culture; demonstrate professional ethical and responsible behavior and serve as a role model.
- Facilitate monthly energy/sustainability team meetings prepare agendas and document minutes. Assign responsibilities follow up on actions and ensure the proper compilation maintenance and filing of all energy reports bills and other documents as required.
- Enroll in Mytox for incentives at the provincial and federal levels such as IESO SEM ICI GIFMP and other applicable programs.
- Perform Magna rated online calculations to save time using tools such as the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator Magna Energy Profiler Water and Energy Savings Calculator MEASUR unit converter and others.
- Lead Support and manage all requirements for MAFACT 6.13 6.11 Sustainability Improvement and 6.10 Energy Efficiency.
- Update data in HSElinx as required environmental HS as needed corrective actions and so on.
- Facilitate and implement HSE policies processes and systems
- Perform risk assessments and review of environmental aspects / impacts
- Ensure data collection and compliance reports are completed as required (i.e. ESDM AWS NPRI HSELinx Magna requirements etc)
- Manage consultants and contractors as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of current HSE Environmental strategies trends and technologies by developing industry working relationships and participating in exchange groups associations and committees
- Facilitate HSE and sustainability training
- Support of modified work program and assist with WSIB claims as required
- Consult on change management
- Report data collect analyze and maintain 100% of environmental data in various dashboards Power Radar and HSELinx (software) monthly
- Maintain knowledge of current environmental strategies trends and technologies through industry engagement
- Ensure alignment with IATF 16949 ISO 14001 environmental management standards
- Support compliance with regulatory and internal environmental requirements
- Utilize AI tools to analyze environmental energy and sustainability data identifying trends risks and improvement opportunities.
- Apply AI-driven solutions to enhance reporting automate data management and improve accuracy in sustainability and compliance tracking.
- Leverage AI and digital technologies to support decision-making optimize resource usage and drive continuous improvement in sustainability initiatives.
- Maintains confidentiality and integrity
- Support all shifts including office and shop floor
