About the Opportunity

At Programmed Electrical Technologies we deliver critical electrical and communications solutions across complex secure environments. With a strong and growing pipeline of Defence work we are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong electrical background to support delivery across a well-established and strategically important Defence program.

This is a growth role within an expanding portfolio offering the opportunity to deliver projects that directly support essential operations across multiple sites. Youll work closely with Defence stakeholders take ownership of end-to-end delivery and play a key role in driving outcomes.

Based in Artarmon this is a hands-on position where youll lead from the front manage key relationships and contribute to the ongoing growth of our Defence capability. Youll also play a key role in mentoring junior team members while supporting the continued growth of the Defence portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of electrical and communications projects from planning through to completion and handover
• Coordinate technicians leading hands apprentices subcontractors and suppliers to ensure effective delivery
• Prepare cost estimates pricing and support tender submissions
• Monitor budgets track financial performance and manage variations
• Develop and maintain project schedules ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved
• Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with Defence stakeholders and clients
• Provide day-to-day leadership mentoring and support to site-based teams
• Ensure all works are delivered in line with safety quality and compliance requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement and ongoing growth across the Defence portfolio

About You

You are an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical foundation in electrical or communications comfortable working in structured high-accountability environments. Youre confident taking ownership leading teams on the ground and delivering projects from concept through to completion.

You will bring:

• A mandatory hands-on electrical background (trade-qualified Electrician or equivalent highly preferred) with the ability to actively support and guide site delivery
• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering electrical projects (communications experience advantageous but secondary)
• Practical experience with estimating quoting and managing technical project delivery
• Strong commercial awareness including budgeting forecasting and cost control
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across varying complexity
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience mentoring and guiding technicians or trades-based teams
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability with a calm approach under pressure
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory) and the ability to obtain Defence security clearance

ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Australian Citizenship
• Hands-on background in electrical and/or communications
• Demonstrated experience delivering projects in a Project Manager capacity within similar environments

• Ability to pass Defence-related background checks including Police clearance (NV1 clearance highly regarded but can be supported for the right candidate)
