We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the Gwinnett County IT department. The ideal candidate will create and maintain technical documentation including SOPs standards user guides flowcharts training materials and interactive forms for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities:
Document IT processes standards and internal applications
Develop SOPs manuals technical specifications and training materials
Collaborate with SMEs engineers developers and project teams
Gather and validate technical and business requirements
Create flowcharts diagrams charts and visual aids
Edit and maintain documentation for accuracy and consistency
Ensure documentation aligns with organizational standards and process updates
Maintain templates formatting standards and best practices
Recommend improvements to documentation tools and workflows
Provide guidance on documentation standards when needed
Requirements:
6 years of professional technical writing experience
Bachelors degree in English Communications Journalism Technical Writing or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong experience creating SOPs standards software instructions and technical documentation
Experience with Information Mapping or topic-based writing methodologies
Strong writing editing proofreading and grammar skills
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into user-friendly language
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word Visio Excel PowerPoint)
Strong document formatting and template management skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
