Sr. Mechanical Engineer (PE) Primoris Engineering

Primoris Engineering is currently seeking a licensed Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Houston-based team! In this dynamic role youll collaborate with top-tier clients across the onshore oil and gas transportation industryincluding upstream midstream and petrochemical sectors. Prior experience in pipeline engineering is essential along with a strong background in compressor and pump station systems.

The core focus of our Houston Engineering office is Facilities and Pipelines including Pump Stations Compressor Stations CO2 Capture Facilities Tank Farms Terminals (Loading/Unloading Truck Rail Marine) Pipeline Facilities (Traps valve sites meter sites tie-ins etc.) Upstream production pads gathering pipelines and tank batteries.

Typical Job Responsibilities

• Rotating and Static Equipment- Sizing Calculations for specialty items. For Packaged equipment: prepare RFQ packages on Mechanical equipment including Datasheets and specifications Technical Bid Evaluations Vendor Drawing reviews interface with equipment vendors provide clarifications for vendors review/approve vendor drawings
• Pipe Valves Fittings - Pipe stress analysis (Caesar II) Pipe/Valve specifications material and coating specifications hydrotest calcs BOM for purchase
• P&ID Development- Providing support to process in the development of P&IDs as applicable
• Hydraulic Analysis- Flow assurance calculations for steady state and transient piping systems.
• Pipeline Engineering- pipeline design HDD stress calculations hydrofracture calcs bending and wall-thinning calcs Buoyancy HCA/MCA/Class Locations routing and workspace design Crossings Alignment sheet development with Mapping team
• Ensure project is in compliance with applicable codes and client standards.
• Interface with Design team- Equipment layout 30/60/90 Model Reviews IFR and IFC development cross-discipline checking
• Interface with the Project Management team and provide progressing scheduling and budgeting support
• Review and QA/QC all Mechanical and Piping deliverables
• PE Sign/Seal final documentation for permits and construction as applicable

Required Qualifications (representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required for the position)

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years of experience with midstream facilities and pipelines in the US
• Experience working closely with designers
• In-office participation is required
• Client interfacing role may be required if assigned as a Lead; professionalism and ability to communicate effectively is required
• Travel not mandatory but this role may require occasional site visits or client meetings
• Experience with static and rotating equipment i.e. compressors pumps valves traps strainers tanks and piping
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 B31.4 and B31.8 CFR/DOT regulations and other applicable API standards and recommended practices for design

Desired Qualifications

• Professional Engineer licensure preferred or working towards licensing. Ability to obtain license in multiple states is a plus.
• Gas compression equipment experience is desired with knowledge of reciprocating and Solar turbine machines is preferred.
