Software Test Engineer

This role will be performed on-site in Huntsville AL.

Summit TRC is seeking to add a Software Test Engineer to our team. This role will be focused on hands-on testing of software cyber updates and integrated hardware within a lab environment supporting a larger software ecosystem. The right candidate will have a strong foundation in building and executing test cases troubleshooting defects and working closely with development and operations teams to ensure systems perform as expected. • Develop document and execute functional test cases to validate software fixes enhancements and design deficiency corrections.
• Create and execute test procedures to verify cybersecurity updates and patch implementations within the software environment.
• Develop and perform test cases to validate hardware components operating in conjunction with software products.
• Document test results and generate problem reports for any software discrepancies or non-compliance with defined requirements identified during formal and informal testing.
• Collaborate directly with Software Development Functional Test Operations and Program Management teams to communicate track and resolve software issues identified in both lab and fielded environments.
• Coordinate communications and security teams on cybersecurity hardware integration and lab-based testing activities.
• Support and actively participate in Formal Qualification Testing performing functional validation and assisting with software verification efforts in coordination with Quality Control personnel.
• Engage in Agile team activities including sprint planning retrospectives and daily/weekly stand-ups to support continuous integration and delivery of tested capabilities.

• Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline
• Active security clearance
• Security certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).
• Strong experience configuring and supporting Windows 11 operating systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation reporting and data analysis.
• Hands-on experience with IP-based and serial communications including configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco networking equipment.
• Experience analyzing network traffic and troubleshooting connectivity issues using packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently while contributing effectively within a team in fast-paced dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
• Experience developing and executing both formal and informal test procedures to validate system functionality.
• Hands-on experience performing functional testing of computer hardware including network interface cards (NICs) switches and related components.
• Ability to document track and clearly communicate software defects through well-written and actionable reports.
• Proven ability to perform in high-tempo environments with aggressive timelines and evolving requirements.
