General Characteristics

• Assists in the planning forecasting implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity.
• Participates in network planning network architecture design and engineering.
• Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures topologies hardware software transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
• Evaluates new products performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications.
• Monitors protocol compatibility performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Providing technical documentation of work performed in standard project team format.
• Developing requirements and specifications for contract procurements.
• Ensuring issues are identified tracked reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
• Monitoring and assisting in reporting issues with the network/system for greatest performance.
• Providing timely updates and reports on the networks status to relevant stakeholders.
• Providing assistance to ensure the security of deployed applications.
• Monitoring the State Networks performance.
• Providing assistance in coordinating network maintenance activities.
• Liaison between the business units technology teams and support teams.
• Develop relationships with staff and other Department contractors to foster customer ties
• Communicate effectively with staff and other Department contractors at all levels to identify needs and evaluate solutions
• Maintain relationships with other external organizations through professional association links wherever possible.

Dimensions Education:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering (hardware and/or software) design planning and implementation.

Complexity:

• Intermediate professional level role.
• Works on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning configuration and optimization.
• Works on one or more projects as a project team member occasionally as a project team lead. May coach more junior technical staff.
