As a part of the Apple Cloud Network team you will build and operationalize platforms and solutions that will craft the future of our hyper-scale network infrastructure. We are looking for candidates who have a strong passion in building deploying and operating platforms that are part of large scale systems for high performance and reliability with broad experience in site reliability engineering observability distributed systems architecture and networking.

The cloud network engineering team is looking for an experienced platform engineer with experience in developing deploying and supporting foundational platforms for large scale distributed systems. You will contribute to the end-to-end design development and support of these systems including but not limited to observability support documentation architecture design and development. nnIn an organization with daring goals and autonomy you will engage in providing technical leadership on high impact projects influence and drive multi-functional teams facilitate alignment and clarity across teams and balance priorities deadlines and deliverables. You will be encouraged to practice and champion foundational software and systems development principles. nnThe role requires utmost ownership and a hands-on leader who has a steadfast passion and enthusiasm for building sophisticated and powerful systems and platforms for solving sophisticated problems at scale.

Software development skills in compiled languages (Golang etc) version control systems (Git) and CI systems (Jenkins etc)nUnderstanding of virtualization and containerization technologies (Docker VMs Kubernetes etc.)nSolid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP routing protocols (BGP OSPF) and network troubleshootingnFamiliarity with cloud platforms architectures and with Integration / interactions of tooling with APIsnHands-on experience with large-scale production systemsnStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsnStrong and proven record of working with cross-functional teamsnOutstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts designs and decisions

BS in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience nExperience working with infrastructure-as-code / configuration management tools and APIs (Ansible Puppet Terraform)nExperience building monitoring alerting and observability for large scale distributed systemsnExperience working with bare metal systems and knowledge of operating systemsnIn-depth knowledge on networking protocols and packet forwarding architecturenKnowledge of SDN protocols and APIs (NETCONF gRPC gNMI OpenFlow etc.)nExperience building monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus Grafana time-series databases)nKnowledge of data center networking and network virtualization (VXLAN VRFs overlays)
