Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment Joint boarding process and single Service policies a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as Defence Intelligence Head of Data at MOD Main Building London on FTRS Limited Commitment (LC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS) with an initial proposed start date of November2026.

Unit Function:

Defence Intelligence Data Office. Data is at the heart of our business. Under the Chief Data Officer (CDO) it is responsible for the curation sharing and use of data for strategic and operational advantage. The Data Office provides data services across DI and wider Government incorporating activities such as data access discoverability interoperability and data exploitation. The team also aims to understand the wider data landscape in use planned and potential across MOD HMG and by our partners and allies as well as driving integration.

Position Role:

Head Data

Head Data delivers the vision for the organisation as set by the Chief Data Officer.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the day to day running of the data team acting as 1/2RO where required.

2. Design data models and metadata systems against MIS requirements.

3. Assist the CDO in architecture design to interpret MIS needs.

4. Provide oversight and advice to other data architects who are designing and producing data artefacts.

5. Design and support the management of data dictionaries at national and NATO level.

6. Deliver the standards and vision set by DI CDO in the Data Strategy.

7. Work with technical architects to make sure that an organisations systems are designed in accordance with the appropriate data architecture.

8. Lead on liaison with national and international partners to design solutions for data interoperability.
