School Principal Assistant Superintendent for Student Services

Summary:
The School Adjustment Counselor works to support a safe and welcoming learning environment for students. The School Adjustment Counselorposition supports students with many issues such as social/emotional substance use/abuse academic and post-graduate planning through the use of counseling consulting coordinating and managing.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in counseling guidance social work psychology or related field
At least three years of experience working with adolescents in a counseling capacity
Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
Understanding of special education regulations and laws
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to use technology effectively
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
Help students resolve such personal emotional and social problems that impede learning.
Conduct social skill development groups individual or group counseling.
Provide case management and crisis intervention for students in need
Provide services to students as outlined in individual education plan (IEPs) or 504 plans
Collaborate with staff members on developing interventions for students in need
Support the development of programs and activities that promote student engagement and a positive school climate
Complete all required paperwork in accordance with district/school policies and federal and state law.
Consistent reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
Responsible for implementing other job related duties as needed

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to assist with student behavioral needs as necessary
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds
Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building
