The Amherst Regional School Districts (20%) are currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of a School Psychologist beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualified candidates will have expertise in conducting evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and working as part of the team to develop IEPs. This position works closely with a team of personnel including caregivers special and general education teachers counselors and related service personnel to help support students with diverse learning profiles to access their education and make progress towards meeting their individual goals.
Strong skills in collaboration oral and written communication and interpersonal interactions are necessary for this position and working as a member of a team to support student success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conduct initial and triennial evaluations to determine special education eligibility
Preparing and presenting comprehensive evaluation reports including cognitive and social/emotional assessment
Serving as a team member for IEP meetings
Complete mandatory documentation paperwork from Team meeting
Contributing to the development and writing of Individualized Educational Plans
Regular communication and collaboration with staff /administration involved in the Team process
Engage and partner with families involved in the IEP Team process
Provide IEP counseling services to an assigned caseload
Collaboration and working as a member of a team with other school personnel
Completing crisis assessments such as self-harm screenings and threat assessments
Communication and engagement with families and outside agencies and providers
Attending school meetings (CST department faculty etc.)
Familiarity with trauma-informed practices
Knowledge and expertise in designing and providing multi-tiered systems of support for social/emotional learning and mental health issues
Attending district-wide meetings (School Psychologist) and trainings
Attend district-wide trainings and Special Education department meetings
Qualifications
Massachusetts School Psychologist Education certification
Expertise conducting psychological and psycho-ed evaluations
Experience with culturally diverse populations
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Bilingual candidates with multicultural proficiency preferred
