Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of four 1 year extension
Shift Schedule:
Day Shift: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM
Weekday Coverage Only (including holidays; no weekend shifts listed)
How Many Shifts Needed Per Month: 41 shifts/month (based on 347 hrs/month 8.5 hr shifts)
Certifications:
Current valid ARRT (N) Nuclear Medicine Technologist required AND/OR
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
IV certification preferred but not required
Education: Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program (per ARRT/NMTCB requirements)
Experience Needed: Minimum 2 years of current work experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT
Special Skills Needed:
Demonstrated experience starting IV lines administering radiopharmaceutical injections and contrast injections
Knowledge of strict Nuclear Medicine safety practices per national standards
Experience calibrating and handling radiopharmaceuticals and radio tracers
PACS experience preferred AGFA PACS a plus (training provided if needed)
Ability to perform complex clinical diagnostic laboratory examinations
Ability to efficiently use computers and technology
Responsibilities:
Independently operate Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT scanner equipment to perform complex NM and PET/CT imaging exams; follow strict NM safety practices
Receive patients explain procedures position patients select and set technical parameters and set up/adjust accessory equipment
Operate computerized NM and PET/CT camera imaging systems and other specialized equipment
Perform clinical diagnostic examinations utilizing calibrated radio tracers and radiopharmaceuticals including PET PET/CT general and cardiac studies producing high-quality NM static dynamic and SPECT images
Set up NM and PET/CT suites ensuring sterile supplies properly calibrated radiopharmaceuticals/radio tracers catheters and all required equipment are present and available
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals radio tracers and contrast material intravenously under close supervision of radiologist(s) - not independently
Send images to PACS archive images post-process images and perform case editing of computer requests and reports
Maintain records and enter patient information using the Radiology Vista Package and CPRS
Meet or exceed current nationally recognized quality assurance standards (TJC)
Comply with all VALBHS policies procedures bylaws and protocols
Participate in all VA mandatory training
