Job Summary
CAI is seeking Mechanical Commissioning Engineering Interns to support our Mission Critical team on data center projects. This internship provides the opportunity to learn how mechanical infrastructure systems are tested validated and brought online in mission-critical will assist the commissioning team in reviewing design documents supporting equipment inspections participating in system testing and helping document commissioning activities. This role offers exposure to mechanical systems such as air handling units chillers cooling systems and building automation systems used in modern data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Support commissioning engineers with mechanical system testing and documentation.
Assist with reviewing mechanical drawings equipment submittals and commissioning checklists.
Participate in equipment inspections and facility walkdowns.
Help document installation and testing activities to confirm systems meet design intent.
Support development of commissioning test scripts and procedures.
Assist with monitoring and documenting system testing results.
Contribute to daily commissioning reports and project documentation.
Observe and participate in vendor equipment testing and factory witness tests when applicable.
Support coordination with contractors vendors and project teams.
Maintain strong focus on safety practices during all project activities.
Learning Opportunities Interns will gain exposure to:

Air handling systems chillers and cooling infrastructure
Construction and startup of mission-critical facilities
Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Interest in data centers commissioning or mission-critical facilities
Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC or fluid systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Willingness to learn in both office and construction site environments
Additional Information
Internship duration: Typically June through mid-August
Some travel to project sites may be required
Interns must be authorized to work in the United States
Work may occur in active construction environments
