Context
Reporting to the Facilities design Director within the Co-Development Phase of the ALTO programme the building coordinator will provide support to the technical governance across their respective Facility of the Speed Rail (HSR) programme. The building coordinator is responsible for coordinating deliverables of different disciplines with internal and external stakeholders reviewing multidisciplinary deliverables with the respective teams (architecture structural MEP utilities fire/life safety vertical transportation civil interfaces and rail systems integration) and scheduling statutory coordination meetings to meet the deliverables schedules.
The building coordinator will provide support to interface management across disciplines and stakeholders. This role requires oversight of the technical scope and assisting multidisciplinary disciplines responding to authorities clients and key stakeholders comments.
Missions/Main Duties
Technical Governance assistance:
Support and assistance to the overall technical multidisciplinary coordination across all project phases (concept to commissioning).
Assisting Implementation of the Facilities Development Plan including:
Design strategy and architectural vision
Programme milestones and delivery roadmap
Design maturity and review gates
Interface and integration strategy
Risk and opportunity management
Assisting technical governance frameworks for their respective building including:
Design review processes (eg. 30/60/90/IFC)
Preparing coordination meetings notes and diffusing to different stakeholders.
Assisting in change control and configuration management
Design assurance and compliance mechanisms
Ensure alignment of facility design with:
Programme objectives and clients requirements
Concept of Operations (ConOps) and service strategy
Sustainability and climate resilience objectives
Stakeholder and Authority Management
Assist and support for engagement with:
Federal provincial and municipal authorities
Transport Canada and regulatory bodies
Utility providers and third parties
Municipal planning and urban integration stakeholders
Ensure designs comply with applicable Canadian codes and standards.
Operational Integration
Understand and support the overall O&M requirements of Rail facilities
Assisting in implementing the integration of:
Operational requirements
Maintenance requirements
Risk Cost and Performance Management
Assisting the design director to identify and quantify the specific risks of the programme including:
Design risks and constructability challenges
Interface and integration risks
Regulatory and approval risks
Assisting the design director to ensure alignment of scope with programme budget schedule and performance targets
Procurement and Delivery Strategy
Support the procurement strategy for building packages including:
Packaging approach and scope boundaries
Technical and performance specifications
Support the facility procurement processes including:
Prequalification
Bidder engagement
Technical evaluation
Contract award recommendations
Construction and Delivery Oversight (potentially as per project agreements)
Assisting The building design manager to comply with design intent and to maintain it through delivery.
Support resolution of major building specific technical issues and interface conflicts
Profile/Skills
Experience & Technical Competencies
Accredited degree in Architecture Engineering or related discipline
Professional Engineer (.) or Registered Architect (or eligibility in Canada) is considered as an asset
Bilingual (English/French) preferred
5 years of experience in major infrastructure or complex projects
Experience in rail metro or high-speed rail building design and delivery
Experience working in complex environments
Technical expertise
Broad and strategic understanding across:
Large-scale transportation projects
Competency in construction documents and specifications
Structural and complex building systems
MEP and building systems integration
Fire/life safety and code compliance
Sustainability and climate resilience
BIM and digital engineering integration
