Youth Program Safety and Security Associate (Part-time)
Job Summary

Founded in 1988 RAW fosters an inclusive trauma-informed environment where young people can express themselves and build strong relationships with peers and staff. Today more than 350 youth ages 8 to 19 take part in after-school and summer visual and expressive arts groups digital film school classes leadership development opportunities and college and career access programming in Lynn. RAW staff have helped lead the creative youth development movement since its inception and RAW is recognized nationally for its program impact.
RAW seeks a steady welcoming presence at its front desk and building entrance during program hours. This unarmed role helps youth families visitors and staff feel safe and respected through entry monitoring calm responses to concerns and relationship building.
- Employment: Temporary grant-funded non-exempt from hire through June 30 2027. RAW hopes to continue the position beyond that date but an extension depends on future funding and is not guaranteed.
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per scheduled week Monday-Friday approximately 3-7 p.m.
- Sign-on bonus: $500 paid in two installments: $250 after starting employment and $250 after 90 days of employment. Written payment terms will be provided before hire.
- Unpaid Program Breaks: You will not work or receive pay during designated non-program weeks or RAW closure days including Thanksgiving week two weeks around the winter holidays and the February and April program breaks. The approximately 20-hour schedule applies only to scheduled working weeks. RAW will review the calendar with candidates during hiring.
- Additional hours: Occasional extra hours or event coverage may be available depending on need and funding but are not guaranteed.
- Reports to: Deputy Director.
You will be a consistent trusted presence for everyone who comes through RAWs doors. Your work will include:
- Welcome youth families visitors and staff building trust while monitoring building entry.
- Follow youth arrival dismissal and pickup procedures including confirming authorized adults.
- Recognize safety concerns and respond calmly to individuals in distress using de-escalation and seeking support when needed.
- Follow emergency procedures and coordinate with staff police or behavioral health resources as appropriate.
- Document incidents promptly share concerns and patterns with the Deputy Director and work closely with program staff.
This role calls for someone who can stay calm in a difficult moment and still make every young person feel welcome. We are looking for:
- Relevant training or experience in unarmed security de-escalation crisis intervention conflict resolution or a related setting
- Comfort working around young people in a community-based setting
- A calm steady demeanor under pressure with strong judgment in high-stress situations
- Ability to work collaboratively with program staff
- Alignment with RAWs values of well-being creativity and community and a genuine interest in supporting young people
- Reliable availability Monday through Friday approximately 3-7 p.m. during scheduled program weeks
- Successful completion of CORI and SORI background checks is required as a condition of employment
- Experience working in schools youth-serving organizations or community-based nonprofits
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice or a willingness to be trained in it
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
- Experience building trust with youth and families across cultures languages and lived experiences and familiarity with Lynns communities

This role requires standing walking and remaining alert at the building entrance for extended periods moving quickly within the building and around its entrance when needed and communicating clearly in person and by phone.
