Job Summary
Location: Ste Genevieve MO (Ste. Genevieve County)
Full - Time Non - Exempt:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm Some evenings maybe required dependent upon agency or client need.
Pay: $16.42 - $18.82/hour depending upon experience.
Job Summary:
Responsible for performing a wide range of tasks in emergency outpatient or inpatient settings that are designed to assist clients aged 13-25 in recovery and living in the community by sharing his/her own personal experience in dealing with mental illness or substance use recovery.
Job Duties:
- Providing one-on-one support coaching and advocacy
- Sharing stories of hope to promote resilience and support recovery
- Empowering and supporting youth to meet their needs
- Working with youth to identify their goals and next steps.
- Maintain positive attitude toward agency and clientele.
- Assisting young people as they navigate traditional systems.
- Promoting the active participation of young people in conversations with system partners and other professionals
- Encouraging young people to work toward systems change
- Facilitating groups and coordinating community events for young people
- Promoting services that foster the full integration of youth in their communities
- Engaging in decision-making and policy-planning discussions at the local state and national level
- Share their personal experience with mental illness/co-occurring substance use and their own personal recovery experience while serving as a role model
- Help identify clients individual warning signs and help develop ways to prevent relapse to avoid hospitalizations.
- Assist clients in developing support systems and developing self-care skills to promote recovery (i.e. self-advocacy coping social etc.)
- Participate as a member of the clinical team and provide clients point of view at team meetings treatment planning meetings and psychiatric visits.
- Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures DMH CARF and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED/HSE
- Must self identify as a former or current consumer of mental health behavioral health substance use or co - occurring disorder services and must hold or be eligible to obtain within 75 days of starting a valid certified Peer Specialist Credential from the Missouri Credentialing Board.
- Be eligible to obtain Youth Peer Specialist credential.
- Must hold Valid Drivers License (Class E for Missouri or Class D for IL Residents - Obtain on start date) and current continuous auto insurance.
