This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating yard activities ensuring safe and efficient material movement supporting customer service excellence and maintaining an organized and productive work ideal candidate is a safety-minded leader who thrives on teamwork enjoys developing employees and takes pride in delivering exceptional service to ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & OperationsLead and coordinate the daily activities of yard personnel to ensure safe efficient and productive employees in the loading unloading storage and movement of materials using forklifts and other material-handling the receiving of incoming materials and ensure proper storage and inventory practices are hands-on leadership by assisting with daily yard operations and performing the same duties as other yard team members when Receiving & Inventory ControlInspect outgoing loads to ensure compliance with shipping specifications load limits company standards and safety and reconcile bills of lading packing slips and related inventory movement and support accurate material handling practices throughout the DevelopmentTrain and mentor new yard employees on product knowledge equipment operation safety procedures housekeeping standards and company a positive team-oriented work environment focused on continuous improvement and operational performance expectations productivity goals and operational priorities ServiceAssist customers with load building and material loading while ensuring a positive customer information regarding inventory availability delivery status and product-related with sales and operations teams to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and & Yard MaintenanceChampion a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and regular yard inspections to identify and address safety and lead periodic safety meetings and encourage employee participation in safety improvement a clean organized and professional yard environment ensuring debris and scrap materials are disposed of or recycled ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties and special projects as school diploma or (4) years of experience performing and coordinating yard warehouse manufacturing or material-handling activities or an equivalent combination of education and leadership abilities and experience directing work crews in a fast-paced operating forklifts and material-handling & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of building materials yard operations product storage and load-building to effectively plan organize and coordinate workflow to maximize labor and equipment understanding of equipment operation and yard machinery including maintaining required communication and leadership skills with the ability to train motivate and develop to prepare schedules reports and operational knowledge of basic mathematics inventory controls and material problem-solving organizational and decision-making Environment & Physical RequirementsWork is performed primarily outdoors and may involve varying weather conditions temperature fluctuations dust and equipment standing walking bending climbing lifting and operating equipment are lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with yard operations including lifting pushing kneeling and accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the Join Builders FirstSourceAt Builders FirstSource youll be part of a team that values safety teamwork customer service and professional growth.
