Qualifications:

  • High school diploma associate degree or higher education preferred. Education background or industry background supervising interns preferred but not required.
  • Highly motivated individual with exemplary communication leadership and organization skills. Possess the ability to work with students of all ages and adults. Is willing to meet with local industry and present at meetings.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.

Work Based Learning Coordinator

Work-Based Learning is career awareness and exploration work experience structured training and/or mentoring at the work site. There are Work-Based Learning activities appropriate for every grade level (K-12) to support students in developing career awareness exploring career options developing appropriate workplace skills and relating academic skills to real-world applications.

A Work-Based Learning coordinator is an educational professional who:

  • Understands the vision and goals for Career and Technical Education and the role of WBL within CTE.
  • Implements every aspect of the states Work-Based Learning program (career fairs guest speakers job shadows student internship supervision industry connections post-secondary connections etc.)
  • Provides appropriate Work-Based Learning services to and throughout Sevier School District (K-12).
  • Is informed about Work-Based Learning regulations and how they affect and apply to students schools business/industry partners parents and other entities that become involved with Work-Based Learning programs.
  • Understands and utilizes basic marketing and public relations principles to promote develop and maintain community partnerships and foster support of Work-Based Learning within Sevier School District.
  • Understands and exemplifies the need to coordinate among all participants to ensure Work-Based Learning activities and functions take place with optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborates with School Counseling programs & teachers (K-12) to provide relevant Work-Based Learning instruction workplace readiness skills development and evaluate participants in various Work-Based Learning activities.
  • Performs all necessary administrative responsibilities pertaining to the establishment and maintenance of a quality Work-Based Learning program (Creating a calendar of WBL activities tracking applications fulfill State requirements list of potential CTE Internship sites by pathways).
  • Attends workshops and in-service training to improve personal and educational skills.
