The Opportunity

NTS is seeking an experienced Wing BFT Analyst to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Blue Force Tracking (BFT) program. The AFSOC BFT program is part of the USSOCOM BFT Program of Record and is a highly technical mission-critical capability that integrates AFSOC aircraft and ground forces into national BFT and Friendly Force Tracking (FFT) architectures National Technical Means (NTM) collection systems dissemination networks and Common Operational Picture (COP) systems.

In this role you will be the technical and operational backbone behind the government-appointed Wing BFT Representatives at AFSOCs Special Operations Wings and Special Tactics Squadrons. You will keep BFT devices fielded accounted for tested and ready; troubleshoot problems for aircrews and operators at home station and down range; train the people who train the users; and keep each Wings BFT program compliant with AFSOC Instruction 13-601. If you know the SOCOM BFT device family understand how tracks move from a device to a COP and can explain it clearly to a maintainer an aircrew member or a Wing Commander we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities

  • From the AFSOC OC at Hurlburt Field provide remote BFT support to Wing-appointed BFT Representatives (military or GS) so each Wing can meet its technical operational and inventory-control responsibilities under AFSOCI 13-601 and Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC) guidance.
  • Maintain monthly coordination with Wing BFT Representatives push program updates and keep BFT practices standardized across AFSOC.
  • Deliver reach-back troubleshooting support by phone email and text to supported Wings (and 58 SOW) Special Tactics Squadrons and deployed AFSOC forces during duty hours or altered schedules during contingencies; escalate unresolved device anomalies to the AFSOC BFT Program Manager within two hours.
  • Field sustain functionally test and disposition BFT devices; keep inventory in a ready-to-deploy status; and preserve tracking capability on platforms and personnel during device swap-outs.
  • Perform configuration management and accountability actions in IMS (or follow-on) MMC and DPAS including updates within two hours of any device assignment change annual inventories and immediate watch-listing of lost or stolen devices.
  • Coordinate with deploying units and TSOCs to capture tracking requirements before deployment and confirm the correct type and quantity of BFT capability is fielded.
  • Administer aircraft departure checklists with Wing BFT Representatives and AFSOC Mission Information Managers (MIMs).
  • Train Wing/Group BFT Managers and provide approved training material so Wing Representatives can train their BFT users; support annual train-the-trainer events at each Wing.
  • Advise Wing BFT Representatives on Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) self-assessment compliance and support BFT Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) as directed.
  • Capture and document BFT capability requirements and recommend After Action Reports / Lessons Learned from Wing users for submission to the AFSOC BFT PM.
  • Safeguard BFT devices and sensitive BFT information under the applicable Security Classification Guides and COBRA Operational Security Messages.
  • Contribute to contract deliverables including trip reports quarterly status inputs and quarterly inventory and accountability reports.

  • Active TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility and eligibility for NATO Secret access in place at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Required Skills Experience & Abilities

  • Three (3) or more years of Wing-level BFT (or equivalent tactical communications/tracking) support experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of training experience (classroom individual and/or remote) delivered to military personnel.
  • Proficiency in BFT theory BFT network dissemination and SOCOM BFT device systems (e.g. Shout series River Jack Cottonmouth MTX).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate BFT and supporting systems used to field sustain and troubleshoot BFT for AFSOC Wings including
  • Logistics Tool Suite Identity Management System (IMS) or its follow-on system Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS)
  • MMC FT Web MMC Tactical Viewer AST IMOM BFT 911 COP tools and RJT Software Programming File.
  • Strong customer-outreach and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable supporting aircrew operators maintainers and senior leaders.
  • Familiarity with military command and control structures and the ability to read write speak and understand English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products email and SharePoint file/folder management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of Wing-level BFT (or equivalent tactical communications/tracking) support experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of training experience (classroom individual and/or remote) delivered to military personnel.

  • Ability to lift at least a 60-pound box and to work on the flight line in compliance with aircrew and flight-line safety standards.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to CONUS and OCONUS (including the UK and Japan) and to obtain required travel approvals (Letter of Identification SPOT registration for overseas travel).
  • Willingness to work outside normal duty hours when required including up to 12-hour days weekends and holidays within a 40-hour work week.
  • Normal duty hours are Monday through Friday consistent with the supported headquarters excluding federal holidays.
  • Overtime is not authorized.
  • Work is performed in government-furnished facilities including controlled areas and SCIFs where Portable Electronic Devices are prohibited.
  • This position supports a contract designated Mission Essential; the incumbent may be required to perform essential services on-site or via approved telework during a crisis.
  • Government training (OPSEC Level 1 Anti-terrorism CTIP information assurance and local requirements) must be completed within 30 days of CAC issuance.
  • A signed Non-Disclosure Agreement is required within five workdays of start date.
  • Employees must wear corporate and government-issued identification and identify themselves as contractor personnel in all meetings calls and correspondence.
