Job Summary
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Welder in Aiken SC for a one-year onsite temporary contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Welder will perform precision welding on steel and aluminum components while working from complex drawings work instructions and welding procedure specifications. This role requires GMAW and GTAW experience strong blueprint-reading skills and the ability to consistently produce high-quality welds in a safety-focused manufacturing environment.
Required Skills
High school diploma or GED.
Technical welding training from a vocational school accredited technical college or comparable welding program.
Minimum of 2 years of welding experience using GMAW or GTAW on aluminum or carbon steel.
Ability to pass welding qualifications on steel and aluminum using GMAW-P and GTAW processes.
Knowledge and application of Welding Procedure Specifications.
Experience using weld gauges.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints drawings and work instructions.
Ability to apply shop math and calculate dimensions.
Ability to understand work orders machine controls settings fixtures and tooling requirements.
Ability to make equipment and process adjustments as needed.
Ability to hold and maneuver a welding torch and operate hand and foot controls.
Ability to inspect completed parts against quality specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot welding or production problems and take corrective action.
Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. and apply up to 32 lbs. of torque using ratchets.
Ability to operate hoists pallet jacks and forklifts.
Ability to pass required forklift certification.
Ability to operate a scissor lift including stepping up 27 inches and working at heights up to 15 feet.
Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
What Youll Do
Perform GMAW-P and GTAW welding on steel and aluminum components.
Load and unload parts onto welding tables and fixtures.
Secure parts using hand tools ratchets and air tools.
Follow welding procedure specifications drawings and work instructions.
Inspect parts and completed welds for compliance with quality requirements.
Troubleshoot problems and recommend or implement corrective actions.
Move parts fixtures materials and containers using hoists pallet jacks or forklifts.
Complete work orders labor reports time records and quality documentation.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Assist with training other employees as needed.
Collaborate with production and quality personnel to meet manufacturing requirements.
Work Schedule / Shift
40 hours per week.
Scheduled start time of 5:00 AM.
No overtime or travel expected.
Pay
$23.88 per hour
