Water & Wastewater Construction Inspector

Job Summary
What Your Day Will Look Like:
As a Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector youll monitor contractor construction activities and inspect materials to ensure compliance with plans specifications and contract documents related to water distribution systems wastewater collection systems reclaimed water infrastructure pipelines pump stations lift stations utility structures and related municipal improvements. Youll take field measurements of pay items document contractor production rates coordinate inspection activities with contractors and municipal agency staff and support project documentation and closeout. The Construction Inspector reports to the Project Administrator or Resident Project Representative.
What Youll Do:
- Inspect observe document and verify construction work in progress to ensure compliance with project schedules contract documents plans and specifications.
- Monitor the installation of water reclaimed water and wastewater infrastructure including pipelines force mains valves manholes pump stations lift stations and related utility improvements.
- Coordinate inspection activities with contractor superintendents project engineers utility staff and agency representatives.
- Perform field measurements and calculations of completed work to support quantity verification and progress payments.
- Maintain detailed Inspectors Daily Reports documenting work activities contractor labor and equipment quantities installed weather conditions and project progress.
- Perform and document field testing activities including pressure testing leakage testing compaction testing and other project-specific acceptance testing requirements.
- Verify materials delivered to the project site comply with project specifications and approved submittals.
- Prepare as-constructed sketches redline markups and supporting documentation as required.
- Identify non-conforming work and communicate observations through proper documentation and reporting procedures.
- Support project closeout activities including punch lists record documentation and development of final estimate packages.
- Assist with verification of contractor compliance with safety environmental and utility coordination requirements.
What Youll Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of construction inspection experience.
- Experience inspecting water wastewater utility municipal infrastructure or public works construction projects.
- Ability to read interpret and apply engineering plans specifications and contract documents.
- Ability to obtain required certifications and pass applicable qualification tests within specified timeframes.
- Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a field environment.
- Experience with water distribution and wastewater collection system construction.
- Experience inspecting pipelines force mains pump stations lift stations valves manholes and utility structures.
- ACI ATTI materials testing or other construction-related certifications.
- Experience with municipal utility projects and public agency clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic project documentation systems.
