Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Waste Processing Supervisor the Waste Processing Team Lead helps oversee a team of Environmental Technicians that perform routine and frequent manual and heavy labor tasks to properly
consolidate treat store pack transport and/or dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with environmentally
responsible and cost-effective practices and Clean Earth policies practices and procedures. The Waste Processing Team Lead will maintain records with accuracy and attention to detail and will need to be able to follow instruction and to work independently. The Waste Processing Team Lead will help to train the Environmental Technicians to ensure they work compliantly and safely. This is not a supervisory role and does not have direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
Segregate and package material for transport and complete required paperwork in a legible accurate
and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations and Customer/Clean Earth policies
practices and procedures.
Oversee a team of technicians and oversee large projects and orders from receipt to settlement.
Collect samples of inbound waste and perform onsite testing for unknown materials.
Ensure compliance with all federal state and local permit requirements.
Communicate to management facility needs difficulties and changes in operations.
Provide training and coaching to technicians and operators on-the-job in equipment operation service
line processes and necessary paperwork.
Operate fork trucks and other heavy equipment when properly trained to move materials for storage/
loading and off-loading.
Maintain operational documentation including but not limited to reports licenses procedures DOT
requirements and order requirements.
Promptly report any incidents injuries or safety concerns to management.
Adhere to and abide by Clean Earth safety and security policies and procedures ( Rules Job
Safety Analyses (JSAs) etc.) Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
Responsibilities may vary based on site level and/or location.
Qualifications :
Work Environment:
Ability to stand walk bend and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly without assistance and up to 75 pounds unassisted on
occasion.
Ability to push and pull up to 500 pounds using a pallet jack hand truck or other device to assist.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled
environments.
Visual acuity to read labels and documentation and sufficient depth perception to safely operate forklifts.
Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes alarms and other audible safety signals.
Ability and willingness to wear company-issued personal protection equipment (PPE) including but not
limited to safety glasses hard hat steel-toed boots gloves Tyvek coveralls and respirator.
Ability to work overtime hours as needed based on business needs.
Occasional travel to customer sites may be required based on business needs.
Education:
o High school diploma or GED
o Associates degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science-related field (preferred)
Experience:
o Must be 18 years of age or older in accordance with federal and state labor laws
o 2 years of experience working with hazardous waste (preferred)
o Completion of 40 hours OSHA training with 8-hour refresher course (preferred)
Skills:
o May be required to pass a DEA background check based on site
o Forklift certified with possession of safe driving record (preferred)
o Knowledge of RCRA DOT EPA and state waste regulations
o Ability to operate manual equipment such as a pallet jack to load and unload trucks
o Ability to use a computer for web-based training and inventory tracking purposes
o Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English
o Ability to deal politely with customers and team members
o Ability to oversee large projects and lead a team
