About the Possition
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center WWRC is seeking a VR Counselor to coordinate vocational services for participants with disabilities. The counselor leads an interdisciplinary team guides service planning supports participants during their stay and transition home and maintains accurate case documentation.
Key Duties
Rehabilitation Planning
Implement a structured rehabilitation model from preadmissions through discharge. Establish realistic employment goals coordinate services monitor progress and support participants through effective counseling and problemsolving.
Team Leadership
Lead interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team meetings promote participant selfadvocacy manage team dynamics resolve conflicts and ensure timely wellcoordinated services. Maintain ongoing communication and document team decisions promptly.
Case Documentation
Maintain accurate timely case documentation in AWARE and DocFinity. Follow confidentiality standards complete discharge reports within required timelines and support WWRC productivity measures.
Sponsor Relations
Build strong relationships with sponsors and referral sources. Follow communication protocols participate in new counselor training activities and respond constructively to sponsor feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of the social economic medical vocational and emotional challenges that affect individuals with disabilities; expertise in interviewing evaluating and counseling; and methods and tools for career counseling and exploration.
In accordance with 34 CFR 361.10 34 CFR 361.11 and Virginias Combined State Plan under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) applicants are required to have a masters degree in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related field. Applicants within a semester of completing their masters may also be considered. Masters level transcripts or copy of current certification if applicable must accompany the application. Please note that the transcripts must display the date that the degree was awarded.
Additional Considerations
Ability to communicate effectively establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and the professional community
Ability to organize and manage multiple and occasionally unrelated responsibilities promptly prioritize duties and exercise responsible judgment with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated skills in leading and facilitating effective team processes as well as listening providing guidance and feedback and managing meetings.
Working knowledge of Windows-based computer software.
Current CRC credential or eligible to sit for credential
