Job Description:

The Department of Health and Human Performance(HHP)atNorwich Universityinvites applicants for afull-timevisitinginstructor/assistant professorfor one year starting inFall includeteachingin the Exercise Science and Health Science programs; depending on the candidate there may also be opportunities for scholarship and/or institutional service including an interim position of Program Director of the CoAES-accredited Exercise Science program. The department isparticularlyinterested in candidates with strong teaching records and/or experience conducting research with undergraduates.

The successful candidate will have a passion for excellent teaching with post-secondary levelteaching experience applicants must havedemonstratedcommitment to working with a student body that is diverse with respect to socio-economic status culture academic interests and career paths. Willingness to work collaboratively withotherfaculty is essential.

Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences the Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) includes degree programs in Exercise Science Health SciencesAthletic TrainingPhysical Education-Teacher Education Physical Education-Recreation Management and Public Health. The departmentaverages 150 enrolled majors across courses aregenerally limitedto a maximum of 30 students while enrollment at the junior/senior level especially laboratory courses is typically in the low addition to the CoAES-accredited Exercise Science program the Master of Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and the Physical Education-Teacher Education program is accredited by the Vermont Agency of Educations Results Oriented Program Approval (ROPA) process to recommend K-12 Physical Education teacher -timefaculty members are provided access to funding opportunities to attend conferencesmaintainmembership in professional societies engage undergraduates in research and further their own scholarship.

Requirements:

  • Adoctorate inExercise Science Sport and Exercise Psychology or related fieldisrequiredfor the position of Visiting Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered for the position of Visiting Instructor.
  • The successful candidate shoulddemonstratethe ability to teachsome orallofthe followingundergraduatecourses: Nutrition Introductory and Advanced Exercise and Sport Psychology Research Methods and various introductory level courses such as Scientific Foundations of Health and Wellness.
