Job Summary

Virtual Designer ModularThe Virtual Designer plays a key role in bringing electrical systems and modular skid solutions to life through detailed drawings 3D models and cross-functional coordination. This position supports project teams by transforming concepts into accurate buildable designsbridging engineering manufacturing and field role is part of Gaylor Electrics Production Innovation Center focused on modular electric room skid production. The Virtual Designer is instrumental in developing fabrication-ready designs supporting production teams and continuously improving design standards through real-world feedback.A successful candidate is detail-oriented collaborative and eager to grow their technical capabilities in electrical design BIM and modular ResponsibilitiesDesign Drafting & DocumentationDevelop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using Revit and BIM/CAD toolsProduce fabrication-ready shop drawings including layouts wiring diagrams equipment placement and structural detailsReview project specifications electrical drawings and design requirements to ensure accuracy and complianceCreate update and manage drawings throughout the full project lifecyclePrepare and interpret record drawings based on field and production inputMaintain organized digital files and ensure proper document control and revision trackingProduction & Project SupportPartner closely with manufacturing teams to clarify design intent and resolve drawing-related questions in real timeSupport estimating scheduling and project teams with accurate and up-to-date design informationCoordinate design updates to maintain production efficiency and workflow continuityAssist in resolving design conflicts and constructability issuesCoordination & Cross-Functional CollaborationCoordinate designs with electrical mechanical fire protection and special systems modelsWork closely with engineering project management procurement and field teams to ensure alignment with project requirementsCommunicate design changes clearly and proactively across stakeholdersCoordinate layout and installation requirements to support field executionContinuous Improvement & StandardizationCollect and incorporate feedback from production teams to improve manufacturability and design efficiencySupport the development of standardized templates component libraries and repeatable skid configurationsApply lessons learned to optimize future designs and reduce engineering cycle timeStay current with industry trends design standards and construction best practicesAdministrative & Organizational SupportManage workload across multiple projects while meeting deadlines and deliverablesMaintain accurate project documentation and recordsTrack milestones revisions and project updates with attention to detailHandle sensitive project information with professionalism and confidentialityRequired QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredExperienceEntry-level to early-career experience with Revit or similar CAD/BIM toolsExposure to BIM applications in construction manufacturing or design environmentsSkills & CompetenciesFoundational understanding of: Electrical drawings and layoutsOne-line diagrams and panel schedulesConduit systems and installation requirementsAbility to interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical specificationsStrong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and qualityEffective communication and collaboration skills across teamsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeHighly organized proactive and eager to learn in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in modular construction prefabrication or skid-based system designFamiliarity with electrical room layouts switchgear MCCs or related equipmentKnowledge of manufacturing or fabrication workflowsExperience with design revision control systems (PDM/PLM tools)Measures of SuccessAccurate high-quality drawings that support efficient production and installationProjects delivered on time and aligned with scope and specificationsStrong collaboration with engineering production and field teamsContinuous improvement of design standards and processesPositive feedback from internal stakeholders and project teams
