Job Summary:

Responsible for all facets of the High School Baseball program at Portage Central High School.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all three programs: Varsity JV and Freshman
• Directly coach the PCHS boys Varsity Baseball team completing in the SMAC
• Assist Athletic Director in the development of schedules for all levels
• Assist Athletic Director in the coordination of travel
• Coordinate and lead the PCHS boys baseball booster club and provide a short-term and long-term vision
• Maintain program inventory and work with the Athletic Director on program budget
• Select manage and evaluate all coaching staff positions
• Conducting and coordinating the summer baseball youth camp and mentoring off-season workouts

Qualifications

• Previous Baseball coaching experience with a preference towards someone with previous towards previous head coaching experience
• Superior technical knowledge of the sport of baseball
• Ability to effectively communicate with students boosters parents other coaches administrators and news media
• Ability to communicate foster and maintain positive relationships with students other coaches administrators and parents
• Proven ability to handle administrative responsibilities of a high school athletic program
• Transparent and proactive communication well organized and detail oriented
• Has high expectations and coaches with passion and integrity
• Successful experience in mentoring and developing a coaching staff
• Familiarity with local and regional travel baseball organizations and willingness to make connections and establish relationships that enable a smooth and position transition from one season to the next
• Proven ability to attract students to their program and retain them for multiple years
• Ability to deal with and resolve conflict
• Desire to serve others and put others first
• Ability to understand and follow policies (PCHS PPS & MHSAA)
• Must undergo a background check and fingerprinting
