Position Summary
The Project Engineer Intern will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Engineers supporting all phases of heavy civil construction projects throughout Wyoming. This internship offers hands-on experience with bridge-building roadway construction site development infrastructure upgrades and more. Interns will be exposed to real-world challenges faced in the field collaborating with crews contractors and clients to ensure safe efficient and compliant project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning scheduling and progress tracking for heavy civil construction projects.
- Support daily operations including field inspection quantity takeoffs material tracking and subcontractor coordination.
- Help review and interpret construction documents drawings and specifications related to highways bridges and public works infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records for project documentation submittals RFI (Request for Information) processes and change orders.
- Participate in safety meetings and promote jobsite safety compliance.
- Assist with estimating budgeting and cost control processes.
- Coordinate communication between field teams office personnel and external stakeholders.
- Attend meetings with clients engineers and project partners to observe project management practices.
- Contribute to problem-solving and troubleshooting on-site engineering challenges.
- Perform additional administrative tasks such as reporting and permit tracking as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Ability to work full-time Summer 2027.
- Ability and willingness to travel to jobsites within Wyoming.
- Valid drivers license and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Strong communication skills and an interest in hands-on learning.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook).
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or field experience in heavy civil construction.
- Familiarity with construction industry software (Procore Bluebeam AutoCAD or similar).
- Coursework or practical exposure to construction safety surveying or project controls.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in construction engineering or project management.
