Position Summary: Reports to the deputy warden operations. Directly supervises unit managers. Responsible for the daily operations of the unit management department and housing units of the facility with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) directives.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervisor the programmatic functions of the unit management staff
  • Provide assistance to the job development staff in preparing offender for release
  • Conduct staff development training for the case managers. Participate in the program planning process for the offender
  • Maintain communications with all other departments and participate on the program team
  • Provide direct aid to the inmates with personal needs or problems
  • Review detailed background files and conduct personal interviews and recommend a program for each assigned inmate
  • Provide continuous educational vocational personal and social adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis. Recommend necessary program modifications throughout each inmates assigned stay
  • Utilize new concepts and approaches; recommend and conduct training sessions and conferences to develop greater proficiency among staff in the areas of guidance and social adjustment
  • Recommend medical and psychiatric evaluation for emotional or psychological problems. Evaluate results and take remedial action as warranted
  • Provide staff with the necessary community resources registry that will help in transition of the inmate
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of staff inmates and to safety procedures.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required with two (2) years of counseling or related correctional experience required.
  • Supervisor experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree preferred in related area
  • Valid drivers license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
