Job Summary

Winlock-Miller Elementary LAP and Title 1 Certificated Teacher TTK-5th Grade (Reading and Math)

Position Overview:

Winlock Miller Elementary is seeking a dedicated LAP (Learning Assistance Program) & Title 1 Teacher to provide targeted intervention in reading and math for students in Transition to Kindergarten (TTK) through 5th grade. This position supports students who are struggling academically by implementing research-based instructional strategies collaborating with classroom teachers and using data to inform instruction. The LAP & Title 1 Teacher will work closely with school staff families and administrators to ensure student success in alignment with Washington State Learning Standards.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Instruction & Intervention

  • Provide small-group and individualized instruction in reading and math for students identified for LAP and Title 1 services.
  • Implement evidence-based intervention programs and instructional strategies to support student learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
  • Use ongoing assessments and progress monitoring tools to track student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Support early literacy and numeracy development through direct intervention and collaboration with classroom teachers.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with classroom teachers special education staff multilingual educators and intervention specialists to align support services.
  • Participate in MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) and RTI (Response to Intervention) team meetings to discuss student progress and intervention plans.
  • Communicate effectively with families and/or guardians providing updates on student progress and strategies to support learning at home.
  • Assist with parent engagement activities workshops and family engagement nights.

Assessment & Data Analysis

  • Conduct diagnostic and formative assessments to identify students in need of intervention services.
  • Analyze student achievement data to inform instruction and intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress in compliance with LAP and Title 1 program requirements.
  • Fulfil the requirements and compliance related to a Dyslexia Screener.
  • Input data into Skyward reporting system.

Program Compliance & Professional Development

  • Ensure all interventions align with Washington State LAP and Title 1 guidelines.
  • Stay informed about state and federal policies best practices in intervention and literacy/math research.
  • Participate in professional development and training to enhance instructional effectiveness.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience teaching reading and math intervention at the elementary level preferred.
  • Familiarity with LAP Title 1 MTSS RTI and assessment tools such as DIBELS i-Ready Really Great Reading etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Washington State Learning Standards and best practices in literacy and numeracy instruction.
  • Ability to have problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to lead paraeducators as their supervisor

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position following the school calendar.
  • Work in a classroom and small-group intervention setting.
  • Occasional evening events for family engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education
  • Valid Washington State teaching Certification and experience working in an elementary school setting.
  • Criminal justice fingerprint clearance
  • Strong communication skills collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
  • Engage in ongoing professional development PLCs and continuous learning
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Carry out the assignments of the building principal.

  • Must be flexible and able to handle change in a professional positive manner.
