Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated TSMO & Traffic Management Center (TMC) Technician to support Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations throughout Tennessee North Carolina and South Carolina.

This position is a hands-on transportation operations role responsible for supporting and assisting with the day-to-day operation of Traffic Management Centers incident management activities TIM training and implementation of transportation technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with TSMO engineers transportation operations staff public safety agencies and client personnel to improve roadway safety mobility and operational performance.

The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in traffic operations emergency response TIM TMC operations ITS technologies and multi-agency coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Traffic Management Center Operations

  • Manage and/or assist in the management of Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations.
  • Monitor roadway conditions incidents special events weather impacts and traffic operations utilizing ITS technologies and transportation management systems.
  • Coordinate incident response activities with transportation agencies law enforcement fire departments EMS emergency management agencies and towing and recovery partners.
  • Assist with incident detection verification response coordination lane closure management and traveler information dissemination.
  • Support development and maintenance of TMC standard operating procedures operational plans and response protocols.
  • Assist with performance monitoring reporting and evaluation of transportation operations activities.
  • Support 24/7 operational environments as required.

Traffic Incident Management (TIM)

  • Assist in the development updating and delivery of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) training programs.
  • Serve as an instructor or co-instructor for TIM responder safety and transportation operations training courses.
  • Coordinate training activities with transportation agencies law enforcement fire service EMS towing and recovery organizations and emergency management stakeholders.
  • Assist with TIM program development stakeholder engagement and performance monitoring initiatives.
  • Promote national TIM best practices responder safety principles NIMS and Incident Command System (ICS) concepts.

TSMO & ITS Support

  • Work directly with TSMO engineers on the design implementation deployment and operation of transportation systems and technologies.
  • Assist in field investigations site assessments device evaluations and operational reviews.
  • Support deployment and testing of ITS infrastructure including CCTV cameras dynamic message signs (DMS) traffic detection systems traveler information systems automated warning systems and related technologies.
  • Assist with development of operational concepts system documentation and implementation plans.
  • Support transportation operations projects from planning through deployment and operational evaluation.
  • Participate in field activities involving transportation operations equipment and systems.

General Responsibilities

  • Collect organize analyze and report transportation operations and incident management data.
  • Prepare technical reports presentations training materials and operational summaries.
  • Assist with meetings stakeholder coordination and project documentation.
  • Support transportation operations during special events emergency incidents severe weather events and other operational activities.
  • Travel throughout the region as required to support client needs training programs and operational activities.

     


    Qualifications :

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BA/BS in Civil Transportation Engineering Technology Emergency Management Public Safety Computer Technology or related discipline
    • 4  years of related experience in one or more of the following or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

      • Traffic Incident Management (TIM)
      • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
      • Traffic Operations
      • Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO)
      • Emergency Response or Emergency Management
      • Public Safety Operations
    • Experience coordinating with transportation agencies and public safety organizations.
    • Experience utilizing transportation technologies operational software systems or traffic management platforms.
    • Valid U.S Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

             

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience managing or supervising Traffic Management Center operations.
    • Experience serving as a Traffic Incident Management (TIM) trainer or instructor.
    • Experience working with ITS technologies and transportation operations systems.
    • Experience supporting TSMO projects and transportation technology deployments.
    • Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
    •  Experience working with state DOTs local governments emergency management agencies or first-response organizations.
    • IMSA TIM Trainer ATSSA FEMA ICS or related certifications.
    • Experience conducting field reviews and supporting implementation of transportation technology projects.
    • Technical Training & Instruction experience
    • Field Operations & Technology Deployment experience
    • Multi-Agency Coordination experience
    •  Proficiency in verbal and written communications.

    Additional Information :

    • Ability to work in operational environments requiring occasional evening overnight or emergency response support.
    • Relocation is not an option for this position
