Traffic & Planning Intern

About This Position:

Interns evaluate select and apply standard techniques procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional types of plans development of planning studies or reports investigations or surveys with relatively few complex features under the general guidance of a Project Planner/Engineer or Project Manager. This work is on small projects or portions of larger projects. Typical projects include transit highway traffic signal bridge design long range transportation planning traffic impact studies and transit planning.

Essential Job Functions:

• Data collection in the field
• Perform specific portions of a broader assignment assisting an experienced planner/engineer
• Perform standard computations or basic analysis
• Prepare drawings sketches and visual aids
• Assist in maintaining equipment inventory
• Perform design tasks
• Perform quantity estimates
• Attend project meetings with senior staff
• Responsible for writing report sections
• Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own work
• Assists at various meetings including public and client meetings

Job Requirements:

Working towards a bachelors or masters degree in related discipline such as civil engineering or planning from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent. Self-motivated and strong work ethic. Strong organizational skills required; ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced with Word Excel Teams Synchro HCS AutoCAD MicroStation GIS Adobe Suite (Illustrator InDesign) encouraged.

Pay Range:

Albany Poughkeepsie Syracuse White Plains NY: $21.80/hour-$28/hour

Pay will be based on the candidates experience qualifications and position location.
