Job Summary
MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Tool Maker at our Farmington Hills Michigan manufacturing this skilled-trade role you will build repair inspect and maintain cutting tools jigs fixtures gauges dies and related components while operating tool room equipment.
Location: Farmington Hills MI
Work Arrangement: On-site
Schedule: 2nd Shift Monday-Friday 3:00 PM-11:00 PM; or 3rd Shift Monday-Friday 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
Pay: $25/hour
Other Compensation: $1.00/hour shift premium for 2nd Shift and $1.25/hour shift premium for 3rd Shift
Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required.
Lay out fit assemble repair and rework cutting tools jigs fixtures gauges dies machinists hand tools machine parts and similar components.
Set up and operate tool room equipment to produce new tools parts and components for machines and equipment.
Read blueprints and work instructions to determine required machining and plan the layout and assembly of tooling or reproduce existing parts.
Inspect parts tools and related components as required and perform bench work associated with assigned jobs.
Assist with general maintenance or machine repair and rebuild work involving measuring fitting installation or replacement of parts when toolmaking skills are needed.
Lubricate maintain and care for tool room equipment and keep assigned work areas and machines clean and orderly.
Report unusual conditions or difficulties involving machines tools and equipment and complete required job or daily job records.
Assist with training new hires or apprentices and provide the hand tools normally used in the journeyman trade as required for the role.
High school diploma.
Two or more years of related experience technical education or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to interpret work instructions and follow written and verbal directions.
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
Manual dexterity attention to detail and organizational skills.
This is an on-site manufacturing and tool room position involving regular work with tool room machinery machine tools cutting tools dies fixtures gauges and related equipment. The role includes bench work inspection activities handling tooling and machine components and tasks requiring manual dexterity. Employees are also responsible for maintaining their work area and caring for assigned tool room equipment.
