Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Tipper/Inserter Technician. This position is responsible for operating maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed inserter and tipper machines to produce and prepare outgoing DMV mailings. This role requires attention to detail adherence to mailing standards and efficient time management to ensure all materials are processed accurately and on schedule.
Responsibilities Include:
Operating Bell and Howell Inserters with Tipper attachments and Series 10 Inserter machines and cutters to process vehicle registration cards decals and other mailings
Ensuring proper postage rates dates and tray labeling are applied to all outgoing mail based on Pitney Bowes (PSI) requirements
Performing routine cleaning and maintenance of inserter and tipper machines to ensure optimal performance
Assisting other DMV units including Printing Services Warehouse Services Mail Services and the Decal Center as needed

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of mailing operations including inserter and tipper machine functions settings and maintenance
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions while maintaining production schedules
Strong attention to detail for monitoring quality processing logs and ensuring accurate postage and billing
Time management skills to prioritize tasks and complete daily mailings within established deadlines
Experience operating high-speed mailing equipment such as inserter and tipper machines
Demonstrated ability to maintain production logs and verify accuracy for reporting purposes
Additional Considerations
Familiarity with USPS mailing standards and Pitney Bowes (PSI) requirements
Ability to calculate postage and prepare mailing documentation for compliance and reporting purposes
Background in cross-functional support including printing services mail operations and warehouse tasks
