Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Thread Rolling Operator Trainee at our Chesterfield MI manufacturing facility. You will support thread rolling production through material handling machine cleaning setup assistance quality checks and basic preventive maintenance while building the skills needed to advance to Thread Rolling Operator I. Previous manufacturing experience is preferred not required.

  • Location: Chesterfield MI

  • Work Arrangement: On-site

  • Schedule: Training begins on 1st Shift 6:00 AM-3:30 PM then moves to 2nd Shift 2:00 PM-10:00 PM once trained.

  • Pay: $18-$20/hour

  • Other Compensation: A shift differential applies after moving to 2nd shift.

  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly

  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required.

What Youll Do as a Thread Rolling Operator Trainee
  • Support Thread Rolling Operators and department leadership by staging materials loading and removing work-in-process material from parts hoppers transporting production tubs and keeping work areas supplied.

  • Assist with rolling machine setup and teardown under the direction of a Thread Rolling Operator while learning machine controls control panels basic adjustments and proper equipment care.

  • Perform routine lubrication designated oil changes machine cleaning purging washdowns and minor machine repairs as trained or directed.

  • Sort parts from rolling equipment and perform basic pan checks and inspections in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.

  • Read and follow production documents including travelers work instructions and blueprints and accurately complete production downtime and data collection records.

  • Record and weigh production tubs and scrap complete scrap tickets and verify containers are properly labeled positioned and free of foreign material before use.

  • Maintain machines roller areas storage racks aisles tools and work areas in accordance with cleaning schedules and 5S standards. Report equipment malfunctions production shortages excessive tool usage and other system issues promptly and return dropped or damaged gages to Quality for calibration verification.

  • Follow Safety Environmental and Quality policies and procedures while supporting standard work and continuous improvement within the department.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand basic production documentation and work instructions.

  • Basic math skills for counting weighing and recording production data.

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn thread rolling machine operation controls and adjustments and pursue advancement to Thread Rolling Operator I.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately maintain attention to detail perform basic inspections and identify obvious nonconforming product.

  • Dependability accountability strong housekeeping discipline and the ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment.

  • Basic data entry and documentation skills with a commitment to standard work and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work overtime or varying shifts as business needs require.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements described below.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This role requires standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Employees in this role regularly bend stoop kneel crouch twist and reach as required by the work.

  • The position requires lifting carrying pushing and pulling materials weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • The work involves repetitive motions using the hands wrists and arms.

  • The manufacturing environment includes exposure to noise moving machinery oils and varying temperatures.

  • Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses gloves hearing protection and steel-toe footwear.
