Our client is seeking a motivated Test Engineer to support testing and evaluation of military vehicle systems and components. You will apply your knowledge of electrical mechanical and hydraulic systems while developing test plans analyzing test data troubleshooting equipment and collaborating with engineering quality production and program teams to deliver safe effective testing outcomes for customers and soldiers.
- Learn and apply test equipment methods and procedures identified in MIL-STD-810 ATPD-2404 ATPD-2167 TOPs and ITOPs.
- Develop test plans and reports for subsystem-level testing of military vehicle components.
- Assist with system-level testing on military vehicles including executing test plans and gathering data for reports.
- Develop instrumentation plans for vehicle programs and support the implementation of instrumentation technologies and methods.
- Design fixtures for mounting test items on shaker tables.
- Coordinate test activities with Program Managers Engineers Quality Production Supply Chain technicians vendors and other subject matter experts.
- Tailor test plans with appropriate consideration for safety cost schedule and overall test value.
- Troubleshoot and address quality issues identified during testing in coordination with vendors and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain test schedules and resources for assigned test programs.
- Provide high-level estimates for labor hours and material costs associated with subsystem-level testing.
- Prepare weekly status reports for management and project leadership.
- Create scopes of work for suppliers and other test-related activities.
- Coordinate with laboratory technicians and field engineering representatives as required.
- Communicate program issues requirements and updates to management and project leadership.
- Facilitate meetings and support conflict resolution between engineering and test teams.
- Interface occasionally with U.S. Government customers and military users.
- Provide direction and leadership to team members as needed.
- Support weekend testing when necessary to meet critical test windows and program schedules.
- Learn and utilize Earned Value Management System (EVMS) processes.
- Support military vehicle firing-range and field testing activities as required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or another related technical discipline.
- Engineering or technical work experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting.
- Experience using multimeters oscilloscopes and function generators.
- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers technicians program managers quality personnel suppliers and other team members.
- Self-motivated with the initiative to take ownership of productive work.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction when needed.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends.
- Ability to travel occasionally to various test sites.
- Experience with mechanical modeling or CAD software.
- Programming or scripting experience.
- Experience soldering circuit cards or wiring.
- Experience crimping pins and building electrical harnesses.
- Experience building or repairing mechanical and fluid systems.
- Experience with military vehicle testing.
- Experience conducting military vehicle firing-range or field testing.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 ATPD-2404 ATPD-2167 TOPs and ITOPs.
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
- This position involves hands-on testing and troubleshooting of military vehicle systems and components.
- Occasional travel to test sites is required.
- Extended hours and weekend work may be necessary based on test windows and program schedules.
