Job Description:
We are currentlyseekinga talented and passionate Modeling Engineer to join theVehicleEfficiencyEngineeringteam. The primary responsibility of this role is to developvalidate andutilizemodels of physical systems in thevehicle to address design and performance questions. Our ideal candidateexhibitsa can-do attitude and approachestheir work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected todemonstrateexcellence in their respective fieldstopossessthe ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
The Vehicle Efficiency Engineering (VEE) teamis responsible forvehicle-level attributes that directlyimpactefficiency performance and customer experience. Working closely with product development manufacturing testing validation and attribute teamsEfficiencyEngineering plays a critical role in delivering efficient high-performing vehicles that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. Through a combination of engineeringexpertise data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration the team influences key decisions from concept development through production launch and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Perform CFD simulations on HVAC and thermal system components and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain system models to solve mechanical electrical and thermal problems in electric vehicles.
- Build tools to support the pre-processing of simulation parameters and the post-processing of simulation results.
- Analyze the effect of changing parameters on the behavior of single components and complete systems.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering departments to understand physics create models and collect parameters forsystem level modeling.
- Couple the effects of different systems in an EV including motor gearbox inverter battery charger chassis coolingHVAC and controls.
- Collaborate with vehicle testing teams to instrument vehicles andcarry ontests to correlate andvalidatemodels.
RequiredQualifications:
- Experience with commercial CFD software.
- Passion for problem-solving and curiosity to learn
- Expertise inmodeling and simulation.
- Deep understanding of physics and modeling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware software and test teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
HighlyPreferred Qualifications:
- Experience and passion for hands-on work.
- Experience and knowledge of electric vehicles including batteriesdriveunits motor control and power electronics.
- Fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics fluid mechanics heat transfer and energy systems.
- Experience in HVAC and comfort modeling.
Education:
- Bachelors degree with some experience or masters degree in mechanical engineering aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$117100 - $161040 USD
Compensation & Benefits:Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitivebenefits packageincluding medical dental and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays paid sick leave; and a401(k) retirementplan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time employees may alsoparticipatein Lucids equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards if applicable aredeterminedbased on individual performance role scope market considerations and overall company resultsin accordance withthe terms of the applicable plans.
