Temporary Part-Time EMS Clinical Instructor

Position Summary:

Rice EMS is looking to hire temporary staff to assist in two main areas: 1. EMS education particularly EMS clinical instructors to serve as preceptors and skills instructors for students in EMT and Advanced EMT courses. 2. Special events staffing.

Ideal Candidate Statement:

Rice EMS is looking for individuals with three years of 911 EMS experience who are currently certified and in good standing with Texas Department of State Health Services. AEMT Certification is required. An ideal candidate would be Paramedic certified.

Workplace Location:

On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at the Rice University Campus. PerRice policy 440 work arrangements may be subject to change.

Hourly Hiring Range: $21-$28 (weekly hours vary: 1-20 hours a week).Pay varies for this position based on level of experience and certification.Non-Exempt (hourly) positions underFLSA are eligible for overtime.

Requirements:

• EMT Certified

• 3 years of 911 EMS experience

Preferences:

• 5 years of 911 EMS experience

• AEMT Certification

• Paramedic Certification

Essential Functions:

As a clinical instructor duties include precepting the EMS students while on clinical rotations in Houston area hospitals and/or serving as a clinical instructor for skills instruction on campus. The courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters with clinical rotations typically occurring for three months in the middle of the semester. The students attend rotations in small groups of 3 or 4 at a time so between the two classes we typically have 30-40 shifts to cover each serve as clinical skills instructors in the ER setting working with students to demonstrate appropriate patient assessment teach hands-on skills such as physical exam vitals and interventions and teach EMS documentation.

There is the opportunity for additional shifts to be taken on as an EMS Provider for large scale campus events that may occur on campus throughout the year.
