PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To positively impact student achievement by providing students research-validated interventions and assist teachers with instructional methodologies and differentiated instruction. Assist campus principal and district team in improvement of student achievement by supporting the campus MTSS processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Training in specialized research-validated interventions in area assigned (i.e. math reading and/or writing)
  • Knowledge of the Science of Teaching Reading
  • Knowledge of Tier I curriculum assessment and instructional strategies research-based effective practices in specific content areas and effective use of instructional technology
  • Knowledge of intervention tools and programs; depth of understanding in the three-tiered model
  • Ability to administer assessments analyze data to inform instruction and develop instructional plans
  • Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong consulting collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of three years successful experience as a core academic subject area teacher
  • Experience designing delivering and analyzing the impact of specialized research based interventions
  • Experience delivering an evidence-based dyslexia program preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Management

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the districts intervention program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
  • Conduct assessment of student progress and use results to inform the MTSS processes plan instructional activities and make curricular adjustments.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.
  • Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  • Assist in district campus and classroom ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Advise MTSS team teachers parents and district level teams to facilitate data driven decision making concerning instructional materials strategies assessment selections and analysis and curricular revisions.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate students for interventions.
  • Be a positive role model for students support the mission of the school district.

Communication

  • Provide teachers with current research and resources related to research-validated interventions to effectively layer Tier I and Tier II instruction.
  • Demonstrate and facilitate protocols for using student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions.
  • Establish a positive and supportive relationship with parents teachers and administrators through regular communication of student progress.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Provide (or facilitate) training on the districts data management system and MTSS topics.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom equipment.
