Job Summary

Job Title: TechnologyAssistant Exemption Status: Nonexempt

Reports to: TechnologyDirector Full/Part-Time: Full Time 12-Month Position


Position Summary:
The TechnologyAssistant plays a key role in managing and supporting all aspects of technology in a small school district. This includes maintaining hardware and software systems managing the district infrastructure and supporting district-wide communication tools. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently troubleshoot a wide range of technical issues and collaborate with staff to ensure that technology effectively supports teaching learning and operations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Technology Infrastructure (Hardware & Network)
    • Install configure and maintain district computers Chromebooks copiers printers and related hardware.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks and internet connectivity.
    • Help manage device inventory repairs and replacement cycles.
    • Install configure and maintain district camera system and safety systems.
    • Support/troubleshoot laptop or Chromebook issues for staff and students
  • Software & Systems
    • Oversee installation configuration and updates for educational and administrative software (e.g. SIS LMS productivity tools assessment platforms).
    • Manage user accounts permissions and access across systems (Google Workspace PowerSchool etc.).
    • Train staff on the effective use of district software tools.
  • Communication & Support
    • Provide technical support and training for staff and students.
    • Support communication platforms such as email systems mass notification tools and phone systems.
    • Assist in maintaining digital signage and announcement systems.
    • Collaborate with staff to improve internal communication workflows using technology.
    • Possess the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Technical Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology Educational Technology Computer Science or a related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in technology support preferably in a K12 or small organization setting.
  • Proficiency with Macintosh Windows iOS ChromeOS Google Workspace basic networking.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware/software issues.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to take ownership of new projects spot problems early and see solutions through to completion.
  • Willingness to learn as new technologies emerge.
  • Familiarity with student data privacy laws and cybersecurity best practices.

Additional Information:

  • May require occasional travel between buildings and lifting equipment (up to 40-50 lbs.).
  • Some evening or weekend work may be required for upgrades or special events.
  • Flexible problem-solver with a hands-on approach is essential for success in this role.
