The Role

We are seeking a Fluid Fill Systems Technical Specialist to join our General Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team (GAME).

In this role you will be responsible for leading the design and standardization of all fluid fill equipment in General Assembly. This includes but is not limited to brake evacuation and fill RESS fill radiator fill fuel fill and air suspension fill.

As the global technical authority for General Assembly fluid-fill systems you will guide the strategy requirements design supplier execution and post-launch improvement of these systems across GMNA. You will translate product and plant needs into safe quality-capable cost-effective and repeatable manufacturing solutions.

Success in this role will be measured by the adoption of common standards safe and capable equipment launch performance fill accuracy throughput uptime quality maintenance effectiveness total cost and demonstrated business benefits across the applicable plants and programs.

What Youll Do

  • Direct the design development and/or continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for all fluid fill systems in General Assembly.

  • Benchmark world-class processes and equipment incorporate lessons learned develop Bill of Equipment (BoE) and lead global expert team meetings.

  • Establish and maintain global fluid-fill strategies standard work equipment criteria Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and supporting documentation to drive reuse scalability and consistent execution across programs and plants.

  • Develop strategies to standardize fluid fill equipment across centers and to meet future product requirements.

  • Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new automation opportunities technologies and methodologies.

  • Lead technical and financial feasibility assessments and develop business-case recommendations for new modified or upgraded fluid-fill systems. Quantify capital investment labor and MCPU impact throughput quality safety reliability maintenance utilities floor-space timing risk and expected payback or return.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to other teams and the GMNA Assembly Plants.

  • Travel to assembly plants when necessary to help solve production throughput and maintenance issues with up to 25% of overnight travel required (in GMNA USA Canada and Mexico).

  • Support travel to supplier and integrator locations as needed for technical reviews equipment build runoffs acceptance testing and issue resolution.

  • Develop process manufacturing requirements (MRs) for all fluid fill systems in General Assembly.

  • Develop review and maintain supplier-facing technical requirements SOR content equipment specifications interface requirements and acceptance criteria for fluid-fill systems.

  • Monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment.

  • Provide technical direction through supplier design reviews equipment build reviews buyoff capability validation and rate confirmation. Escalate technical risks and ensure issues are closed with documented evidence.

  • Ensure fluid-fill equipment designs address machine safeguarding fluid-handling hazards environmental and regulatory requirements electrical and controls safety and RESS/high-voltage considerations where applicable. Participate in PFMEA/MFMEA g-Risk control-plan error-proofing traceability and capability-study activities.

  • Incorporate lessons learned into global standards requirements training and future business cases.

  • Provide technical coaching mentoring and knowledge transfer to engineers plant teams suppliers and other stakeholders; maintain current technical knowledge of fluid-fill technologies controls instrumentation and industry practices.

Your Skills & Abilities Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of professional experience with machinery equipment and tooling with a focus on fluid-fill dispense metering evacuation pressure/vacuum leak-test or closely related automated equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience taking automated manufacturing equipment from concept and requirements development through supplier execution installation commissioning launch and post-launch support.

  • Expert-level experience in automating machinery and equipment to reduce labor costs.

  • Expert-level experience applying automation to improve safety quality throughput labor productivity reliability and total costnot labor reduction alone.

  • Strong technical expertise in understanding and developing locating and dimensional strategies.

  • Experience problem solving and troubleshooting machinery and equipment.

  • Experience troubleshooting integrated mechanical electrical pneumatic vacuum hydraulic fluid instrumentation controls PLC/HMI and automated equipment systems.

  • Experience developing or reviewing Manufacturing Requirements equipment specifications SORs BOE/BOP content acceptance criteria and technical standards.

  • Experience leading supplier integrator or OEM technical reviews and resolving design build commissioning and launch issues.

  • Experience creating technical cost estimates investment recommendations capital or project business cases and benefit/payback analyses.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of automotive or launch experience.

  • Knowledge of advanced planning and control methodologies and tools.

  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in fluid fill equipment.

  • Experience with General Assembly machinery equipment and tooling with a focus on fluid metering pressure and vacuum systems leak detection fill-volume verification automatic compensation fluid recovery data collection traceability or related process controls.

  • Experience with vision systems PLC and robot programming.

  • Certifications in analytical problem solving such as Red-X or Six Sigma.

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
