Weare currently seeking aTechnical Specialist of Battery Safety reporting directly to the Senior Director of Battery roleis responsible forsetting the safety standards used both in R&D should bring an organized mind coupled with the mental agility to enforce safety as our top priority without creating an environment too rigid for creative solutioning.

You will

  • Own HV batteryRESS safety requirementsforall batteryprograms including authoringmaintaining and approving requirements inCAMEO and 3DXacross PV DV and production phases.
  • Leadsystem-level safety analyses includingSFMEA DFMEA alignment HARA and hazard breakdowns from L0L4 ensuring traceability to test evidence and field learnings.
  • Driveregulatory and compliance readinessfor global markets includingR100 FMVSS 305a CE Marking EURO NCAP UL 2580 UN38.3 and emerging battery safety legislation.
  • Act as the primary safety interface tovehicle pack manufacturing service and validation teams resolvingcrossfunctionalsafety issues and ensuringtimelyclosure of actions.
  • Define and reviewbattery safety test plans(R&D and DV) review test data extract learnings and rapidly cascade risks or concerns to DREs and leadership.
  • Leadthermal runaway (TR) safety topics including detection logicpostcrashreactions contactor and fuse responses grounding strategies and customer notification paths.
  • Supportmanufacturing and service safety topics including HV handling storage damaged pack response labeling MSDS emergency response guides and service manuals.
  • Maintain and presentprogram safety dashboards compliance status and maturity tracking to stakeholders on a regularcadence.
  • Represent the company inindustry working groups and standards committees(emobility PRBA ZETA UL) ensuring Lucidremainsahead of regulatory and safety trends.
  • Providetechnical mentorship and guidanceto engineers on safety methodsrequirements ofquality and system thinking.

Youhave

  • Bachelors orMasters degree inMechanical Electrical Systems or Automotive Engineering(or equivalent experience).
  • 610 years of experience inHV battery systems functional safety or vehicle safety engineering.
  • Handsonexperience withbattery safety analyses(SFMEA DFMEA HARA) and requirements development.
  • Working knowledge ofglobal battery safety and vehicle regulations(R100 FMVSS CE NCAP UN38.3).
  • Experience usingrequirements or systems engineering toolssuch asCAMEO DOORS 3DXFLOWJAMAor similar.
  • Ability to interprettest data and CAE resultsand convert them into clear engineering decisions.
  • Proventrack recordofcrossfunctionalexecutioninfastpacedproduct development environments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex safety topics tononexperts.
  • Strong ownership mindset attention to detail and comfortoperatinginhighresponsibilityregulatorydrivenroles.
