This position will support the Engineering Technical Services team by contributing to finite element analysis (FEA) using Ansys applying data analysis to drive business process improvement and exploring AI-enabled tools to enhance engineering workflows.
The Intern will be responsible for:
- Support FEA activities using Ansys including model setup meshing and definition of boundary conditions.
- Assist with material property assignments solver execution and evaluation of analysis results under the guidance of an engineer.
- Analyze engineering and operational data to identify trends bottlenecks quality issues and opportunities for business process improvement.
- Evaluate and apply AI-enabled tools with appropriate human review to automate repetitive tasks organize engineering knowledge or support technical calculations.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Intern also will learn about the following:
- FEA principles and practical application using Ansys.
- Techniques for translating engineering and operational data into actionable process improvements.
- Responsible application of AI-enabled tools to support engineering workflows.
Skills/Requirements
- Currently enrolled and working toward completion of a Bachelors or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college with Mechanical Engineering Computational Engineering or related engineering majors preferred.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Good interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multiple functions to achieve desired results.
- Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project and task.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office products i.e. Outlook Teams Word Excel PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Preferred: prior coursework research or project experience using Ansys or other FEA software.
- Preferred: experience with data analysis or visualization tools (e.g. Excel Power BI Python or MATLAB) and interest in applying AI-enabled tools to engineering problems.
