Job Summary

The Technical Designer / Patternmaker is responsible for ensuring womens knit and woven garments meet company standards for fit construction grading specifications and quality throughout the product lifecycle from development to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical specifications garment patterns and production tech packs.
  • Execute product development from initial design handoff through production.
  • Review measure and evaluate samples for fit construction workmanship and quality.
  • Lead fit sessions and resolve garment fit issues with designers and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare fit documentation evaluation sheets and fitting reports.
  • Communicate fit corrections and technical changes to overseas vendors using written instructions photos sketches measurements and construction details.
  • Develop modify and maintain production and development patterns.
  • Create and maintain block patterns grading rules and specification standards.
  • Compare factory production patterns against approved blocks to ensure fit consistency.
  • Review production specifications detail pages and technical documentation.
  • Track sample approvals and monitor products through the production process.
  • Maintain specification history pattern libraries revision logs and technical records.
  • Ensure consistency in fit grading construction and tolerances within FlexPLM.
  • Identify production quality costing and design issues and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct competitive fit and construction analysis.
  • Review size sets and support quality improvements throughout production.
  • Organize samples and ensure projects meet calendar deadlines.
  • Support additional technical design activities as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience as a Technical Designer Patternmaker or Fit Technician for womens apparel.
  • Experience with womens knit and woven garments.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction patternmaking grading and fit.
  • Experience with Gerber patternmaking systems (preferred).
  • Proficiency in FlexPLM Adobe Illustrator Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Sewing skills and knowledge of industrial sewing equipment.
  • Strong communication organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a global cross-functional environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
