The Tactical Training Specialist serves as a subject-matter expert in standards-based training plans orders development (regimental and below) scenario design and exercise control (EXCON). The incumbent enables multi-echelon training that enhances staff readiness operational planning proficiency and command-and-control effectiveness for the regiment and subordinate units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Tactical Training Specialist serves as a subject-matter expert in standards-based training plans orders development (regimental and below) scenario design and exercise control (EXCON). The incumbent enables multi-echelon training that enhances staff readiness operational planning proficiency and command-and-control effectiveness for the regiment and subordinate units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and refine OPORDs WARNORDs FRAGOs and support planning documents.
- Integrate warfighting function inputs to produce doctrinally aligned orders and annexes.
- Design realistic METlinked training scenarios MEL/MSELs and injects.
- Lead Exercise Control Center (EXCON) architecture adjudication communications battle tracking and inject pacing.
- Conduct wargaming sync meetings and rehearsals to align with commanders intent.
- Oversee command post field and combinedarms exercises to ensure safe doctrinal training.
- Collect training data lead AARs and produce postexercise reports.
- Mentor staff in planning orders production battle tracking and exercise management.
- Integrate live virtual and constructive (LVC) environments enablers TTPs and lessons learned to enhance warfighting readiness.
- Develop training materials exercise control products and briefings that link objectives METs and scenario design
EDUCATION
- Completion of service-level planning courses (EWS/CSC/CGSC or equivalent).
- Bachelors Degree required.
EXPERIENCE
- Prior service as an Operations Officer Exercise Planner O/C or equivalent position at regimental level.
- Experience integrating joint fires EW cyber ISR unmanned systems or simulations into training.
- Familiarity with VBS4/WINTAK or similar scenario/simulation systems.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in operational training exercise planning or staff operations at the regimental level or higher.
- Experience writing and publishing regimental-level OPORDs/FRAGOs and developing annexes.
- Proficient at leading the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP) or Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).
- Experience designing training scenarios and MEL/MSEL injects for command post or field exercises.
- Proficiency in exercise control adjudication battle tracking and common operational picture management.
- Ability to facilitate planning meetings briefings and staff working groups.
- Proficiency with common command-and-control systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School or equivalent service school
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
- All authorized company drivers must have a valid drivers license current automobile insurance and a driving record that is acceptable to the companys auto insurance provider.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
