System Safety Engineer

APT Research is hiring a Systems Safety Engineer in Dahlgren VA. This position will be performed off-site with the requirement to be on-site for customer meetings.

Responsibilities:

• Navy Combat Systems Experience
• Experience implementing system safety/software safety processes and methodologies.
• Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 (series); during design development use and maintenance of safety-critical software systems and their integration with safety-critical hardware systems.
• Able to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
• Able to create briefings in PowerPoint and brief to a technical audience.
• Ability to analyze research assess and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations
• Must be able to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
• Extensive experience in systems safety with a proven track record of successfully mitigating hazards in complex systems.

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in engineering from ABET accredited institution and 6-12 years of experience in system
  Safety engineering.

Security Clearance Requirement:

• Must have a SECRET level clearance or higher.

This Position is Contingent Upon Contract Funding

Travel Requirements:

• Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <15%.

• Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision make rational decisions and to exercise good judgement.
• Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others.
