The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver is looking for an energetic Swim Coach/Instructor who can bring encouragement enthusiasm and a little splash of fun to every lesson.

Youll help swimmers build confidence improve their skills master new strokes and celebrate those awesome I DID IT! moments from first-time swimmers to those ready to take their abilities to the next level.

POSITION SUMMARY

Instructor Aquatics working as part of the Aquatics team will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for providing a safe swim instruction for participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring honesty respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level
  • Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required
  • Remain current on all CPR First Aid and other safety certification training
  • Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms
  • Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals
  • Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets
  • Be in the water 50-100% of class time
  • Communicate with all participants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign and general procedures and policies including personnel guidelines facility access procedures membership policies and emergency plans

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Swim Lesson Certification
  • Listen First within 6 months of hire or an action plan in place
  • CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Strong communication and listening skills are required
