The Senior Endoscopy Technician is responsible for supporting GI and endoscopic procedures in an outpatient endoscopy center. This role requires strong scope reprocessing skills and at least 3 years of experience in an endoscopy or GI lab setting. The technician collaborates closely with physicians and nursing staff to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as upper endoscopies colonoscopies polypectomies biopsies and other specialized interventions. Certification through SGNA or as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required along with BLS certification.
Responsibilities:
Assist with upper endoscopies colonoscopies polypectomies biopsies PEG placements banding balloon dilation and Bravo procedures.
Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopic equipment and scopes.
Set up back table and procedure rooms for daily cases.
Operate and maintain specialized equipment including Olympus processors light sources CO2 insufflators and electrosurgical units.
Collaborate effectively with physicians nurses and other healthcare team members during procedures.
Ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Document and report procedural details and equipment status as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in an endoscopy center or GI lab.
Completion of SGNA education or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong skills in scope reprocessing and high-level disinfection.
Experience with a variety of endoscopic equipment and procedures including colonoscopes EGD scopes EBUS EUS enteroscopes ERCP scopes fiber optics and flex sigmoidoscopes.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Experience with Olympus CV-190 processor Olympus Light Source CLV-190 and Olympus scopes 190s.
Familiarity with CO2 insufflators CO2 tanks with regulators Erbe cautery and electrosurgical units and Olympus OER Pro.
Experience with EPIC and ProVation electronic medical record systems.
Back table set up and room set experience preferred.
Special Considerations:
No weekends holidays or on-call requirements.
No floating to sister facilities.
Facility may cancel up to one shift per pay period.
Work performed in an outpatient endoscopy center environment.
Scheduling:
Monday through Friday 07:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift.
No weekend or holiday shifts.
