Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician with specialized experience in Cardio Thoracic and Vascular surgery is responsible for providing skilled technical support during cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role requires at least two years of consecutive experience in cardiovascular surgery and involves collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. The technician must be adept at preparing and maintaining the operating environment handling surgical instruments and supporting all phases of cardiovascular operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of the cardiovascular operating room before procedures.
  • Provide technical support during cardio thoracic and vascular surgeries.
  • Maintain sterile field and ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and available.
  • Collaborate with surgeons nurses and other operating room personnel to facilitate smooth workflow.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot surgical equipment during procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transport as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies dress codes and safety protocols.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years consecutive experience in cardiovascular surgery specifically Cardio Thoracic and Vascular procedures.
  • Current NBSTSA CVOR Technician certification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical instruments and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to comply with hospital dress code: solid navy blue scrubs for licensed personnel solid hunter green for unlicensed.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center or short-term acute care facility.
  • Familiarity with hospital electronic documentation and equipment.
  • Additional certifications related to surgical technology or cardiovascular care.
Special Considerations:
  • On-call availability is required including nights weekends and holidays.
  • Floating between units may be required.
  • Dress code adherence is mandatory based on licensure status and department guidelines.
  • Parking is available free in designated employee/visitor lots.
  • Patient-to-technician ratio expected is approximately 1:3.
  • 48-hour workweek approval is not granted.
Scheduling:
  • Shift assignments include nights with on-call responsibilities.
  • Block schedules and weekend work are not required but on-call coverage may include these times.
  • Orientation includes a reduced non-billable period with zero hours compared to standard 40 hours.
