Job Summary
The Surgery Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across Surgical Services overseeing multiple departments and subordinate leaders. The role is responsible for patient care staff management budgets performance improvement compliance and long-term departmental goals. Requires strong independent judgment discretion and the ability to manage complex and confidential matters while collaborating with senior leadership physicians staff and external vendors. May function as a staff-level RN as needed to support clinical operations.
Oversee daily Surgical Services operations and quality of patient care.
Manage budgets staffing resources supplies and equipment.
Lead performance improvement problem-solving and quality initiatives.
Collaborate with surgeons anesthesiologists hospital leadership and other departments.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies safety standards and confidentiality requirements.
Establish departmental objectives and organizational structure aligned with hospital strategy.
Oversee the OR PAT Central Sterile Processing Ambulatory Services and Endoscopy departments.
Recruit train schedule supervise and evaluate nurses technologists and other surgical services staff.
Manage employee performance including evaluations promotions compensation adjustments disciplinary actions and terminations.
Support staff development competency assessments orientation and clinical education while fostering a professional collaborative environment.
Current Alabama State Board Of Nursing license BLS required; ACLS/PALS as applicable
Minimum 5 years of work experience in which management skills have been demonstrated
Requires 2-3 years of surgery experience
Must be able to relocate to Muscle Shoals Alabama within 30 days
